hosted by Widener University
The inaugural FTG Skills Developmental Camp took place this weekend at Widener University, bringing together a group of elite athletes for five immersive training sessions. The athletes received individualized coaching, in-depth instruction, and all around athletic development.
Friday opened with Session 1, an informational meeting led by Coach Chuck and Coach Gavin. Athletes were introduced to the science and logic behind their training programs and explored technical principles across sprinting, hurdling, and jumping. The session opened up a weekend built not just on the physical side of the sport, but also on developing a deeper understanding of technique and performance.
Saturday delivered two focused event sessions:
Session 2a covered high hurdles, where athletes worked on form, rhythm, and approach mechanics.
Session 2b transitioned into horizontal jumps, with work centered on approach consistency, phase development, and landing technique.
Sunday brought the final two sessions.
Session 3a emphasized short sprints, focusing on block starts, acceleration, and correct mechanics.
Session 3b highlighted the long hurdles and the 400, emphasizing the first 7 seconds, hurdle rhythm, and pacing strategy.
The athletes trained through intense heat and high humidity to work on improving their events. Despite the conditions, they stayed focused and continued to push themselves to new levels.
Coach Chuck and Coach Gavin are proud of the progress each athlete made and grateful for the opportunity to build relationships and offer hands on guidance in such a focused environment.
Stay tuned for future FTG development opportunities. This is only the beginning!
It was a busy and competitive weekend for FTG Track Club as our athletes competed on two fronts—one in the Florida heat and the other in the New Jersey rain.
Winter Garden, FL — Star Athletics Sprint Series
Gavin Colley took on an elite field in the Pro Men’s 100m, facing competitors like Christian Coleman and Josephus Lyles.
He ran a fast 10.64 (+2.0) in the prelims, setting a new FTG wind-legal club record in the 100m.
Piscataway, NJ — East Coast Championship
In tough, rainy conditions, Dolan Cox made his FTG debut in the Men’s 400m, grinding it out from lane 6.
Kayla Robinson set three FTG club records across sprint and jump events. She won her 100m prelim in 12.56 (-1.1) and followed up with a runner-up finish in the final at 12.50 (-0.7)—earning the FTG women’s 100m record. She also set records in:
• Triple Jump: 12.03m (+0.5)
• Long Jump: 5.73m (+0.0)
